Z2 comics is the brand you trust for music comics and graphic novels. Publishing such books as Apocrypha The Legend of BABYMETAL, Yungblud Presents the Twisted Tales of the Ritalin Club and Genesis One a Poppy Graphic Novel.

Come to our panel featuring Poppy herself and a few other creators from the Z2 roster.

Poppy made her critically acclaimed studio debut in 2017 with “Poppy.Computer,” which Rolling Stone dubbed “one of the most surprising albums of the year that pushes against the written-by-committee blandness of Top-40’s offerings with effervescent hooks and deliberate weirdness”. The impressive debut, which aptly earned her the title of “the Warhol of the YouTube era” according to New York Magazine, led to the sold out Poppy.Computer Tour.

In between the release of her debut album and her powerful sophomore follow up (2018’s “Am a Girl?”), Poppy brought her infectious energy to red carpets across the world, landing her on best dressed lists during her first New York and Milan fashion week appearances.

All cats are magical, but the cats of Japan have unique secrets. If they live long enough, their tails split, they stand on their hind legs, and they start to dance. Bakeneko, nekomata, kasha, and even the ubiquitous “lucky cat” called the Maneki Neko—come learn some of the secrets of these magic cats from Zack Davisson, translator, yokai scholar, and author of Kaibyo: The Supernatural Cats of Japan.

RAKUGO with Katsura Sunshine and Introduction to J-Theatre – Friday – 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM – 1E15
Katsura Sunshine is a Canadian-born performer with the distinction of being the first non-Japanese Rakugo storyteller in the bawdy Osaka-based “Kamigata” tradition, and the second Westerner ever who went through the rigorous training required to become a master. He travels the world performing Rakugo, a 400 year old “sit down” form of dynamic comedic and dramatic storytelling, known in the anime world through Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu. This Fall, Katsura Sunshine brings the ancient art form to Broadway and is offering exclusive discounts just for Anime NYC. The panel will begin with an introduction highlighting trends in J-Theatre today.

Go behind the scenes of one of the most epic action-sci-fi anime ever–Code Geass scriptwriter Ichiro Okouchi and character designer/chief animation director Takahiro Kimura discuss their craft and the creative development of this series. Listen to them discuss not only the original anime television series, but the new film Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection–and you may hear some tidbits about the future of the Code Geass universe! Kimura-san will also conduct a live-drawing session–see a real Code Geass animator draw in the flesh!

It’s been over two years since NJPW made its first excursion to America with the “G1 Special in USA” shows in California. Since then NJPW has continued to run events in the US, ramping things up to the point where they debuted here in NYC at Madison Square Garden for the G1 Supercard this year. This panel is designed both as an introduction to New Japan for total newcomers- we’ll discuss the roster, schedule, titles, tournaments, how to watch, and more- as well as a recap of the ambitious US expansion so far.

The second contest themed after “With Japan” adds Tokyo Otaku Mode, which has over 20M likes on Facebook and spreads Japanese pop culture, who will announce the winner here at Anime NYC 2019!
