CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Mar 25, 2020 – CORONAVIRUS AND ANIME NYC’S SISTER SHOW

Hello, this is Peter Tatara, founder of Anime NYC. As many of you know, the Anime NYC team was working to launch a new convention in Texas this year called Anime Frontier, and we made the decision today to cancel Anime Frontier 2020.

This year’s Anime Frontier was scheduled for May 8-10, and we feel postponing it until 2021 is the only right decision we can make, as we look to create an inviting, exciting, safe, and healthy celebration for Texas’s anime community – and there’s no way to achieve this right now without putting this same community at risk of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

What does this mean about Anime NYC?

Nothing at all. Anime Frontier 2020 was scheduled for May and was coming up rapidly. Anime NYC 2020 is scheduled for November – still eight months away.

I and my team continue to be hard at work on this year’s Anime NYC, and our goal is to celebrate it together with you. Should coronavirus remain a concern as we near the fall, we will work closely with the City of New York and Javits Center to make a decision.

Again, any decision would be months and months away, we hope and pray we will have beaten coronavirus before then, and Anime NYC 2020 continues to be planned together with partners, publishers, and friends.

Stay home and stay healthy.

Mar 13, 2020 – UPDATE ON CORONAVIRUS

Hello, this is Peter Tatara, Founder and Show Director of Anime NYC. I’d like to take a moment to publicly answer the questions we’ve received around if Anime NYC will happen this year in light of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The next Anime NYC is November 20-22, 2020, and it is too soon for us to comment on if or how coronavirus could affect the convention. The health and safety of our attendees is our top priority, but we cannot predict future conditions in NYC or Japan eight months away.

My team is hard at work on Anime NYC every day, and as we move into the summer and fall, we will work closely with the Javits Center and the City of New York to determine the best path together as we do with all sensitive decisions.

We’re aware of the seriousness of the current situation, and we ask every fan to follow the instructions of their local health authorities. We hope we can all beat this, and we look forward to celebrating the best of Japanese pop culture with you in the biggest city in America this November.
