SECURITY & PROP UPDATE 2017-11-09T14:17:57+00:00

We want Anime NYC to be a fun, safe show for all our fans, and in light of recent events, we want to share parts of our security plan and a cosplay prop update with you.

Anime NYC developed our security plan closely with the Javits Center and our professional security team, and it includes random bag checks, bomb and gun-sniffing dogs, prop checks, uniformed guards, and undercover security teams throughout the convention. We take the security of everyone at Anime NYC very seriously, and we’ll have trained, expert security professionals working the entire weekend for you.

With this in mind, we’ve updated our Cosplay Prop policy with one major change. Realistic prop guns will not be allowed at Anime NYC at all. If it looks like a real gun, it cannot come into the convention. This means any gun that looks like a real gun – including props with bright orange caps – are not allowed.

We understand there are many characters – Solid Snake, Alucard, Vincent Valentine, Deadpool, etc. – who use guns, but if you’re cosplaying as a hero, antihero, or villain with a realistic gun, we ask you leave your prop at home.

We don’t want to limit your creativity, but we do want to keep all our attendees safe, and as part of this, we will not be allowing realistic guns into Anime NYC at all.

If you have any questions about our policy or if your prop will be allowed, please contact our security team directly at
